Sainte-Maxime has stayed a town where people live. Its hillside villas look across to Saint-Tropez without paying for the address, and its summer, though busy, remains navigable.
Requests are mostly family: a chef for the week, a housekeeper, occasionally extra service for a birthday or an anniversary. Honest, pleasant work without the apparatus of the peninsula.
It is the easiest commune in the gulf for a late booking. If your dates are near and the peninsula is full, it is worth asking here.
